The Story of Vocal Dimension

Part of the inspiration for VOCAL DIMENSION came from the following, unattributed story:

A visitor to a village in South Africa proposed a game to a group of children. She put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the kids that whoever got to the tree first won the whole basket. When she told them to run, they all took each others’ hands, ran together, and then sat together enjoying their winnings. When she asked them why they had run together, since one of them could have won all the fruits, they said: “UBUNTU! How can one of us be happy, if all the others are sad?”

‘Ubuntu’ in the Xhosa culture can be translated as, “I am because we are.” It’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s about “we” working together.

Regardless of whether this heartwarming story actually happened, it truly shows the spirit of what Ubuntu means and how it can transform how we live our lives.

From traveling the globe throughout my career, I’ve observed that we can learn so much from other cultures and customs. What if we gave more time to listening to what those around us need and have to offer, and how we can work together to achieve a better world?

I created VOCAL DIMENSION as a place where the singing community can come together, and artists feel supported. In addition to offering expert vocal coaching and vocal production at affordable rates, my hope is to host frequent events focusing on singing, performance, recording, and coming together to help and support one another.

VOCAL DIMENSION is a space where we will create great vocals together, so your music makes a positive impact on the world around us.

May we all live with the spirit of Ubuntu.
